Slow Pitch Tournaments

Across the country, there are slow pitch softball leagues as this is an organized sport similar to baseball. Slow pitch tournaments are also organized and include children, women and even senior citizens. When playing in slow pitch tournaments, you have to be playing in some type of organized league.

There are many slow pitch softball leagues across the United States. Some are organized and some are not. Those that are part of the National Softball League Association are those that are very organized and are sure to play by slow pitch softball rules. Large slow pitch tournaments are held for all groups for leagues belonging to this association. Slow pitch tournaments take place throughout the country and feature players of all ages and genders.

As long as your league is registered, you can participate in slow pitch tournaments. You will have to make sure that you have all the right equipment for slow pitch softball when you play in slow pitch tournaments. In addition to being slow pitch tournaments for all age groups, there are also slow pitch tournaments for all types of softball.

Softball can be played with 10 inch, 12 inch or 16 inch softball. Softball rules are very similar to baseball rules, although they can vary depending on the league and the type of softball that is being played. Gloves are worn for 10 inch and 12 inch softball, but are not permitted for 16 inch softball as the ball is soft enough to handle without the use of gloves. Equipment also varies depending on what type of softball you are playing. The distance between the bases and home plate, as well as to the pitching mound, is also shorter in slow pitch softball than in baseball.

Most of the slow pitch tournaments are held to find a national champion, just as is the case with professional baseball. There are a lot more leagues and teams in softball, however, so in most cases slow pitch tournaments are held for certain age groups or genders.

If you enjoy being active and playing baseball, but do not have the speed or the catching or batting skills to play professional baseball, as is the case with most people, you can still play slow pitch softball. Although you should know how to bat and catch as well as run for this game, there is a lot more leeway in slow pitch softball that is not given in baseball. You can get together with friends, have fun playing slow pitch softball and even enter slow pitch tournaments when you are enjoying this game. You can purchase equipment for slow pitch baseball at any sporting goods store or even at online outlets where sporting equipment is sold.
